The haven that is Waiheke Island is a short ferry ride from Auckland's CBD. It has garnered a reputation for excellent food and wine, particularly internationally. For example, Stonyridge Vineyard's flagship wine, Larose is one of the top Bordeaux-style reds in the world and is considered a 'cult wine' on the international stage. However, there are many other stunning boutique style wineries that call Waiheke home; Destiny Bay, Man O' War, Cable Bay and Passage Rock, to name but a few. Art, culture, top class food and of course wine all play a role in the make up of the island's charm, oh and let's not forget the locals of course! If you can't manage a visit in person, try one of the Island's wines, they may just transport you there themselves.
